In August my Sister and I went to Ibiza for 4 days. It was a vacation to relax so we didn't do much, besides laying in the sun and eating great food. A friend of ours made a list of which restaurants to go to on the Island, as she is a real "Ibiza Expert" and she didn't dissapoint.

The first day we went to Cala Bassa Beach Club, this is a fancy beach club where you can either rent a beach bed or take your own towel and lay on the beach. The restaurant is entirely outdoors and gives you an overview of the entire beach. I ordered "Espagueti negro frutti di mare" (Black pasta with seafood) (€24) and my sister went for "Pata de pulpo estilo ibicenco" (Ibizan-style Octopus) (€23,50). Both dishes were incredibly good and I enjoyed every bite I took. The view was beautiful as well and I think it is even more special at night when the beach is empty and the only thing you can see or hear is the waves of the ocean.

For dinner, we reserved a table at Sunset Ashram to see a stunning sunset. Our friend recommended us to first have some drinks at a place called Sunset Cala Escondida, a small beach bar hidden in a little bay. The atmosphere was lovely and the cocktails even more, we both ordered a strawberry daiquiri. It was the perfect way to start of our evening, before heading to the restaurant.

Sidenote: Cala Escondida is a nudist beach so it's not a place to go to with your children if you're not comfortable with naked people. Even though the beach bar is situated seperate from the beach.

Then we went to Sunset Ashram and were seated on a long bench so that we were facing the beach and the sun (ofcourse). I ordered Burrata on sliced tomato with lime gel, marinated salmon and anchovy cream (€25), and my sister ordered Chicken Pad Thai (€26). It was a really nice experience to eat while looking at the sun setting at the same time, though I have to admit that the food was mediocre in comparisson to the price we paid for it. I would recommend to only have a drink at Sunset Cala Escondida and watch the sunset there, and afterwards go for dinner at another place.

On the second day we went to Sa Trinxa to get a tan on the beach and have lunch at the restaurant. This restaurant was entirely different compared to Cala Bassa, as it was more simple and low-key and Cala Bassa was more fancy. But that didn't mean that the food was more simple as well, because it definitely wasn't. This time my sister ordered a seafood pasta and I had grilled Octopus. We really enjoyed our meals, both dishes were excellent and really well made.

On the third day we went to a private beach called Cala Bonita that was recommended to us by another friend of ours. Again, we didn't do anything besides tanning and eating. When we arrived, early in the morning, we directly booked a table to have lunch because the reservation list was already packed. The interior of the restaurant was very nice and beautifully decorated, and no matter where you were seated, you always had a great overview of both the restaurant and the beach. My sister wasn't very hungry so she ordered an"Ibiza tomato salad with burrata and avocado"(€19). I, on the other hand, was starving so I ordered a "Basil Risotto"(€26). My dish wasn't that nice to the eye, but it surprised both of us when we took our first bite, as it was delicious. The burrata was also very nice and refreshing, and didn't dissapoint.

On our last night we went to the old town also known as D'alt Villa and went for tapas at La Bodega. We ordered;

- Pan con tomate

- Pimientos de Padron

- Pulpo a la plancha

- Patatas Brava

I enjoyed all dishes, only the pulpo wasn't my cup of tea so I let my sister enjoy all of it. The waiters were very friendly too with typical Spanish personalities, which made our experience even better. We finished the night with some shots (from the house) and some small talk with our waiter. The perfect last night.

On day 4 we stayed at our hotel during the day and went to Experimental Beach before heading to the airport. This restaurant is situated very closely to the airport so it's the ideal place to enjoy the Spanish food one last time before going home. We ordered Ham croquetas (€14), Piementos de Padron (€8) and Fettucini with tomato, basil & Parmesan Reggiano (€25) to share. All 3 dishes were excellent and made our hungry tummies very happy. This restaurant was very well decorated as well and the staff was kind too.

I really enjoyed the food in Ibiza, especially the aioli with bread that was served, almost everywhere, while waiting for your food. I do recommend reserving a table before you go to a restaurant, especially in high season, as a lot of restaurants are pretty busy. We booked most of the restaurants a week before to make sure we had a table and didn't have to look for a place to eat last minute.

A bientƓt!
