De Plantage is a beautiful restaurant located at the Artis zoo in Amsterdam, which has a lovely terrace but also an amazing interior as well. I visited this restaurant together with my sister and niece, this summer. We were seated outside, what we loved as the atmosphere was really great on the terrace, we were surrounded by beautiful trees and there was/is a big bird cage right in front of us what really made the experience special.

We started off with some creuses a.k.a. oysters (€9,75 for 3pieces) and my sister and niece ordered moules vadouvan (€8,75) as their main dish, I chose a rissotto with chantarelles, sea lavender, carrots, samphire, poached egg, broad beans and parmezan (€19,75).

I'm not a big fan of oysters so I can't really give an opinion on that dish, but my sister and niece did enjoy them so I assume they were pretty good. My risotto was delicious and beautifully presented as well and the mussels were great too. I do have to mention that the mussels were a starter and not a main dish, that's why they are so "cheap" and why the portion is pretty small.

All 3 of us enjoyed our visit to the plantage and our food as well, ofcourse. The staff was really friendly too, so we'll definitely go back again when in Amsterdam. I do have to admit that the prices are on the more expensive side, but the restaurant does give that away when you look at the location, interior, exterior and presentation of the food, thus what you see is what you get.

A bientôt!
