Shopping and eating at Prego - Hasselt

Prego is a clothing store located in the center of the city Hasselt. The store recently relocated, during the COVID-19 lockdown, and is now open and ready for business. Before the relocation, Prego was solely a clothing store, but now, at their new location, they also added a small gastrobar. You can go for breakfast until 12 or for lunch until 6 pm. It's also fun to just go for some drinks while your husband/ wife/ friend/etc is shopping, or after you've finished your own shopping.

I went together with my mom and dad for a quick Monday lunch. We sat down at the outdoor seating area, which is situated in front of the store. It is decorated very beautifully with beige-colored furniture and black and white Italian-inspired prints on the wall. You can also sit inside where you can look directly into the store or sit at the nicely decorated bar.

Sidenote: due to the COVID-19 pandemic it is no longer allowed to sit at the bar.

We ordered some bruschetta with mozzarella and tomatoes (€8.5) as a starter. These took a little bit long to make, what we thought was strange as it is only a piece of bread with some toppings on it. Though they did taste very good and we also loved the salad that came with it, especially the dressing on it. Our main course did come quickly, which made up for the previous delay.

For our main course we ordered:

- Salad with breaded chicken (€15.5)

- Pasta al pomodoro with ricotta cheese (€12.5)

- Salad with tuna steak (€17)

All 3 dishes we're very well prepared and we all enjoyed them. The pasta was delicious, I loved the fact that there was a lot of sauce so that you could enjoy it afterwards with a piece of bread too. Though, to be fair, I wasn't able to finish te whole dish as it was quite a lot. My dad's salad, with the tuna, had some fruit in it what he didn't like that much, but besides this he did enjoy his meal. The tuna was well seasoned and well cooked. Lastly, the chicken salad. Another tasty meal, the chicken was very soft and we loved that it was breaded instead of ordinary chicken.

The prices at Bistrobar Prego are very fair and the service is good too. This is definitely going to be the next "place-to-be" in Hasselt. With its lovely and quiet location, stunning decoration and you can even shop here too, what is there not to like?
