Finally exploring Leuven

It has been a while since I have posted something up on this website, but I am back now. I took some time off because of Corona, as I didn't feel like posting and I honestly just didn't have time to cook fun things and post the recipe on here. Besides that the restaurants have been closed for 7 months in Belgium, so posting about that also wasn't an option. Now, since the 8th of May the restaurants are back open again (let's hope they stay open this time) and I am ready to explore them all.

I have (permanently) moved to Leuven after Christmas but have not been able to explore it's culinary spots yet. For the remaining time I will be in Leuven I hope to try out some new spots and share them with you guys.

The first restaurant I went to is a pretty famous one called Bar Louis, it is located on the Grand Place and has a very cute and fun terrace (and interior). I went together with one of my best friends to celebrate the opening of the restaurants.

As we only had a limited time we went for some quick edamames (€7) as a little snack with our drinks to start off the night. After this we both went for the same dish (kind of), which was the wok. I ordered the vegetarian version (€18) and my friend had the wok with chicken (€19). The wok was great, and even though it was a lot I finished all of it. I guess Corona made my stomach increase because I have been able to eat way more than I used to (I don't know if I need to be happy or sad with this šŸ˜…).

Besides the fact that our stomachs were already satisfied enough, we still went for a moelleux au chocolat (€13), which we split between the 2 of us. Let me tell you, it had been a very hot minute since I had a moelleux and this one didn't disappoint. The inside was runny, as it should be, and we even got a pretty good amount of ice cream with it, which I really appreciated as an ice cream lover. Normally when you order a moelleux you get this teeny tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream, which I HATE, because I just want there to be as much ice cream as there is moelleux (am I the only one that thinks like this?). Anyways, Bar Louis did a great job and I will definitely be going back, just for that moelleux.

Even though Bar Louis is a bit on the pricey side, I still think it is pretty affordable when you are looking for a fun dinner spot in Leuven. It is in the middle of the Grand Place, which makes it the perfect spot to do some people watching, the terrace is cosy and the interior is beautifully done as well. On top of that, the staff is very friendly which is always a big plus.

A bientƓt!

Bisous
