Het Strand (Translation: The beach) is a restaurant situated in Leuven that offers exclusively vegetarian meals; you can grab some lunch or diner at a very fair price. I visited Het Strand back in February together with my friend to have lunch.

This restaurant is located a little bit outside the city centre of Leuven, right above a Cinema. It is pretty big but still very cosy and nicely decorated; it gave me a lot of hipster, down-to-earth vibes, which (I think) was exactly the intention of the owner(s) when they started this restaurant. There are only drink menus on the tables as the eat menus change constantly, so you'll probably have to get up to go and take a picture of the "chalk menus" on the walls. On one wall you can find the lunch offer and on another wall will be the dinner menu. Another great thing about this restaurant is their games "rack"; they have a collection of fun games stacked in a rack beside the bar, wherefrom you can grab yourself any game and play it with your company.

Now going over to the food; I chose a Ramen Soup with Miso, Daikon, Wakame, Silken Tofu, Edamame, Sesame and Spring Onion (€9,50) and my friend went for a Sandwich with Tofu Eggsalad, Black Olives Tapenade, Truffle and Cucumber (€4,50).

Both meals were absolutely yummy and way better than I expected, as I am used to some really weird flavours when it comes to vegetarian meals (sometimes). The Ramen Soup tasted exactly how it was supposed to taste with no weird tastes, and the sandwich was sooooo good too. The Eggsalad was very good even though I am not a big fan of Tofu and the Tapenade underneath it gave it even more flavour, the truffle was very subtle but still present and then all of that topped of with some cucumber: amazing, a light dish yet enough to satisfy your belly.

I will most definitely visit Het Strand again whenever I am in Leuven and take all my friends there to introduce them to the delicious world of vegetarians.

A bientƓt!
