Umamido is an oriental restaurant situated in the Graaf van Egmontstraat, in the close proximity of the "Vlaamse Kaai" (well known place in Antwerp with many restaurants and bars). They offer different types of Ramen and also some side dishes like; Edamame, Seaweed Salad, Pork Bun, Gyoza, etc. Umamido has restaurants situated all over Belgium, with establishments in Leuven, Antwerp South, Antwerp Zurenborg, Ghent and 3 locations in Brussels.

It is a pretty tiny restaurant with a modern interior and an open kitchen and bar. The ambiance is okay, but I would have prefered it a little bit more cosy and less modern. I visited Umamido together with my sister and mom, to celebrate mom's birthday.

Mom and I both ordered Ramen, I chose the vegetarian one (€14,70) and mom the Shoyu Ramen (chicken) (€14,90). My sister wasn't as hungry so she ordered 2 side dishes , namely the "Mountain Vegetables" and a "pork bun". I didn't take pictures of both dishes, unfortunately. The pork bun was quite okay, but the vegetables weren't what we had expected. In stead of getting a portion of mixed vegetables, we got a small bowl with one type of vegetable in it. The Ramen on the other hand was very delicious and both my mom and I enjoyed our meals.

(left = vegetarian, right = chicken)

I would describe Umamido as a place where you would go with friends rather than with family or as a great take-out place. The staff was very friendly and helpful but I am not going to return any time soon because I didn't quite like the restaurant as a sit-down place. I would order their ramen as a take-away though, as it was really good.
